Peters Colony & The Pioneer Settlers Of Texas

The Peters Colony settlement covered a large portion of North Texas. Many counties cover this area known as Peters Colony, including Dallas. Many people may not realize that about two thirds of the settlers came by boat via New Orleans to the Port of Galveston and then overland to their Peters Colony Land Grant. Learn about who and where these settlers came from Understand their trials and tribulations of traveling during this time period and settling in unknown territory.

Paula S. Perkins Biography

Paula is a native Texan that has been involved with genealogy for over twenty years. Currently she is a Texas State Genealogical Society District Representative and created the first web site for TSGS. She was appointed Federation of Genealogical Society Delegate for CCGS. She has authored articles to genealogical publications. Since it's inception created and sponsors the Collin County Texas GenWeb web site.

Previously she served as President of Collin County Genealogical Society and held other various board positions. She was elected Executive VP Lectures/Fundraising Dallas Genealogical Society, Peters Colony Historical Society President and appointed multiple terms to the Denton County Historical Commission serving on the Cemetery and Historical Marker committees. Past Course Coordinator for Dallas, Texas local PBS station community outreach program in conjunction with "Ancestors" series.
