October 18 1907 Delphos Republican

Minnie Chance, now Mrs Varney, in Jewell City is ill with Typhoid fever.

William H Barker died Oct 11 1907. He was born May 4 1836 near Louisville KY. He married Sarah Hughes and they had 6 children. After her death he married Elizabeth Hughes.

Benj Sage and Minnie Ott were married Oct 13. They will live on their farm 3 miles northeast of town.

Miss Carrie B Disney and Mr Marvin J Copping were married Oct 9th. They are living with his mother until their new home is finished, 5 miles east of town.

Delphos Market House, James Magill, proprietor, is on the north side of the square.

Anyone thinking about going into the liquor selling business will forget about it after reading the new ordinances in this issue.

Oct 21 1932 Delphos Republican

I N Richardson, Mayor of Delphos, passed away. Ike was an owner of the Economy Store and held postmaster position for 8 years. 600 people attended the funeral.

Wedding of Richard Marchbank and Grace Smith was Sept 10th. Mr Marchbank graduated in 1929 and is the son of Dr and Mrs J C Marchbank of Delphos.

John Haley was the Who's Who in Delphos High School. He is in the senior class of 1933, captain of the football team, active in basketball, tennis, glee club and 4H.

FFA brought home some emblems. Dean Hollis, pres; Stan Mamoth, vp; Gary McKain, secty; Neal Rolph, treas; Bob Klein, reporter; Don Goddard, sentinel, and John Nace, advisor.

Mr & Mrs Clark Brock spent their 34th wedding anniversary Sunday driving to Russell to visit with son Marion and family.

Bernice Nelson hosted a birthday dinner for her daughter, Mrs Duane Gates of Concordia.

The Catholic Altar Society met Oct 9th, with Mrs Harold Comfort and Mrs LeRoy Gawith.

The Hi Neighbor club met Oct 10. Sylvia McKain received birthday gifts. The next meeting Oct 24th will celebrate Vida Hogg and Mary Harts birthdays.

Sgt J V McKnight is reporting to Ft Dix. His wife (Lois Bourne) and daughters will remain in Delphos.

Gerald Smith and Marjorie are the grandparents of twin boys, Mitchell Gene and Michael Deane, born on the 12th to Darrell Deane and his wife, of Beaver, OK. They join siblings Deborah and Anthony.

Maude Fairfield of North Hollywood CA, passed away last Saturday. They moved to California 25 years ago. Her daughter is Mrs Russell Straton on Minneapolis. Siblings include Myrtle Davis and J A Garrison.

Mrs Whitford Hollis (Bessie Wright) passed away Wednesday night. She was a sister is Frances Kline.

Mrs Leslie Somers (Orpha Daisy Smith) passed away Tuesday afternoon. She was born June 6 1882 near Lamar. Local Delphos relatives are a daughter, Nettie Jamison, a brother, Lloyd Smith, and a sister, Almeda VanHorn.

A subscription to the paper cost $2 a year. $2.50 if out of the area.

Probate was filed for Edward F Riley by his widow Fanny H Riley.

Armilla Meyer and Bill Retier were married Oct 13th at the Meredith Catholic Church.

Oct 21 1982 Delphos Republican

Florence Ablard and Mrs James E Lewis, Ames, are grandparents. Mr & Mrs Dennis Ablard are the parents of Janci Lynn, born Oct 14. Big brother is Mathew who is 2 1/2 years old.

Jane Thurston had a birthday Oct 15th.

Bill Maelzers funeral was held Oct 19. (Nov 3 1908 - Oct 13 1982) He died in a Belleville rest home. His wife Dorothy (Feb 2 1912 - May 11 1991) lives at the Delphos Rest Home. Also passing this week was Anna Longtin. (Oct 14 1895 - Oct 1982)

Mr & Mrs Vernie Gawith celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary Oct 18th.

Thelma Baldocks birthday will be Oct 25th.
