Kathy's Journal #1

I started over 100 times on the first one. Finally, my mother said,

"Just knit and don't stop.  Don't rip it out. Just pray.  If you don't like it, don't give

it to anyone, just keep it to remind you of the efforts God has put forth

in your life and when things are going right, he wants to fix it,

but sometimes, has to let you go on instead".

I decided to make this one for my totally disabled sister.  At first my prayers were of sadness.

Of how she cannot even speak or communicate when she need something.

How someone so vibrant and full of life became so ill

that she is left with herself as a prisoner inside her own body.

Then as I began to knit,

I remembered the fun and happiness she brought to many while she

was functioning. Then, I started to thank God for every smile,

every hug and every moment that we have her.

My prayers started out with

Dear God, poor, poor Julie. Then as time went on, they became prayers

of rejoicing in whom she is and in knowing that she does have a purpose,

even disabled. She does bring joy through her smiles and hugs.

But, mostly, she brings people closer to God.

They recognize her true sufferings and are brought to their

knees in prayer and in Thanksgiving for the lives that they have.
